Stencil stores

This closed beta focuses on supporting Stencil stores. In the future, we’ll be working on adding support for headless (including Catalyst) stores.

Headless (including Catalyst)

It may be possible to use this integration with a headless store, but you should be aware of the limitations and challenges:

  • We are not able to send the detail-page-view event
  • We will send the purchase-complete event
  • We will send the catalog data

In theory, you could send the shopper user events using alternate methods such as a client side script. You could also manually send user events to Google Vertex AI with attribution tokens. However, we do not recommend this as you will not have consistent visitor IDs across all of your events, which is critical to ensure the ML models are effectively trained.

To support headless (including Catalyst) stores in the future, we may enable headless stores to send shopper data events to a BigCommerce API. That will enable this integration to use those same events. It will also unlock the ability for headless stores to make full use of BigCommerce Analytics.

Alternatively, if there is sufficient interest, we may support turning on only portions of this integration in future releases. This would enable you to only use our integration for the catalog updates so that you can safely send the shopper user events directly to Google.
