# Fields in an enrichment

> The seven fields Catalog Enrichment generates, which write to built-in product attributes, which are added as custom fields, and what each is for.

An enrichment generates seven fields. Four update built-in product attributes your theme already renders. Three are added as custom fields and written for answer engines.

## Built-in product attributes

These overwrite fields you already use, so they carry the most risk on apply and deserve the closest review.

| Field | What it is | What it's for |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Product Name** | The product's name on the storefront | The highest-visibility field. Affects shoppers, search results, and how assistants refer to the product |
| **Description** | The full product description, with formatting | The product page. Where features become reasons to buy |
| **SEO Meta Description** | The snippet under your page title in search results | Click-through from organic search |
| **SEO Page Title** | The product page title shown in search results | How the result is labelled in search listings |

## Custom fields

Added to the product rather than replacing an existing attribute.

| Field | What it is | What it's for |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **AI Snippet** | A short product summary written for answer engines | Giving assistants a clean passage to quote |
| **Intent Q\&A** | Questions covering key use cases, with concise answers | The "will this work for me" questions that decide a purchase |
| **Conversational Q\&A** | Common questions generated from the description | Voice and chat surfaces, where shoppers ask rather than search |

> **Q\&A carries the answer engine value**
>
> Answer engines favour content already shaped as an answer. If visibility in AI results is your goal, the two Q\&A fields matter most — and they work even when not displayed to shoppers. See [Making AEO fields useful](/developer/docs/ai-tools/catalog-enrichment/after-you-apply/aeo-fields).

## What is not generated

No marketplace or channel fields, no structured attributes, no categories. See [What enrichment does and doesn't do](/developer/docs/ai-tools/catalog-enrichment/overview/scope).

## Choosing what to use

You can clear any column during review and apply only the fields you want. Two patterns:

* **Storefront first** — description, meta description, page title. Visible improvement for shoppers and search.
* **Answer engines first** — AI snippet and both Q\&A fields. Aimed at the surface growing fastest.

Product Name deserves a deliberate decision. It is the field customers and search engines recognise your product by, and overwriting it across a catalog changes more than the page text.
